SAT PREPARATION · COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATION
South Jamaica CBO cohort raises average SAT from 913 to 1,120 across three diagnostics.
Bell Curves partnered with Empower My Hood to provide SAT preparation for 51 students in South Jamaica, Queens. Across three proctored diagnostics, cohort averages rose from 913 to 1,062 to 1,120. Of the 34 students who completed all three diagnostics, 28 improved, showing broad progress across the tested cohort. The clearest shift came in Math: just 12% of students reached the SAT’s Hard Math module on the first diagnostic. By the third, 64% did.

Charter school students gain 89 Math points as Hard Math routing nearly quadruples.
Bell Curves partnered with Renaissance Charter School 2 on a school-day SAT program for 100 students during the 2025–26 academic year. Among approximately 62 students with comparable results across multiple diagnostics, average SAT scores improved 116 points, driven by an 89-point average Math gain. Math development extended beyond scores: the share of students qualifying for the SAT’s Hard Math module grew from 11% to approximately 40%, with many of those students performing strongly once there.

Bell Curves delivered a 12-week SAT program across two island districts, combining classroom instruction, three proctored diagnostics, locally recruited instructors, and school-level reporting. Results showed the strongest gains among students entering furthest behind and identified attendance as the primary constraint on outcomes.
