SHSAT prep
The SHSAT sorts students by preparation and calls it merit. We teach students to beat it.
The test is learnable. Most students who don't score well enough aren't missing ability. They're missing the right preparation. Bell Curves has prepared students for the SHSAT since 2003. We know every version of this test. We know what the DOE changes and what it doesn't. The SHSAT went digital in 2025. The November 2026 administration is computer adaptive. Our programs reflect that.

Our Method
KRE™: Knowledge, Recognition, Execution.
Most SHSAT prep programs cover content. Content is one of three things a student needs to perform. Bell Curves addresses all three. All three determine what happens in the test room.
Knowledge
Content mastery across SHSAT Math and ELA. Grid-in and multiple-choice math. Scrambled paragraphs, revising and editing, and reading comprehension in ELA.
Recognition
Identifying what the SHSAT is actually measuring, question by question. The SHSAT adapts at the question level, not the module level like the SAT. Every answer can shift the difficulty of the next one.
Execution
Applying knowledge and recognition on a single administration, in November. The SHSAT is offered once a year. There's no second chance if pacing breaks down on test day. We drill full-length adaptive practice tests before the real one counts.

Lead Instructor
Originally from Germany, Marlene started tutoring younger students while still in high school and continued through a PhD in U.S. History and Foreign Policy from the Free University of Berlin. She prepares students for the SAT, SHSAT, and ISEE, as well as AP History and ELA courses. Students consistently value her approachable manner, patience, and humor.

Anastasia is a physicist and educator with more than twenty years of experience teaching mathematics, physics, and standardized test preparation. She holds an MS in Experimental and Theoretical Nuclear Physics, a BA in Creative Writing, and a GradDipEd in Physics and Mathematics. She enjoys helping students develop confidence and critical thinking skills, as well as a genuine understanding of challenging concepts.
